4 Things to LOVE about Pansies

fall planter box tulips

4. The variety. Pansies have such diverse colors and textures that they create many different looks!

3. The colors! Blues, oranges, reds, purples, and pinks... the variety of colors is vibrant!

2. They're hearty! In the dreary gray of winter, hearty winter plants still survive and provide beauty and color. Thanks to the South's mild climate, winter doesn't have to be a dead season. Hearty plants like pansies, kale, and chard thrive in colder temperatures and even tolerate the occasional frost. As long as snow stays off the ground (or doesn't last there long) and temperatures don't dip below freezing for too long, these plants will continue to grow.

And the number 1 reason to love pansies...

1. They hide beautiful bulbs! Bulbs planted now = beautiful spring surprises. The ultimate sign that spring is arriving is when the tulips start to poke through the soil and bloom. Bulbs like tulips, irises, and crocuses need a winter freeze to start their growing process. As soon as you've started to grow tired of the look of your fall beds... POP - beautiful color appears!
